Deciding on a set of headphones that works for you isn’t easy. Ideally, you would prefer to select one from a renowned brand. Sony has been in the business of headphone making for a long time now and keeps surprising us with better versions of their inventions. One of the latest headphones they’ve created is the Sony MDR-ZX770BT, an over-ear set of wireless cans that comes packed with all the necessary features.
Sony’s MDR-ZX770BT appears simple at a glance but is actually uniquely and executively designed. The headband is multi-colored and the side arms are made from matte-textured black plastic and an all leather wrap. There is a thin layer of brushed aluminum that allows you to stretch the headphones to comfortably fit your head no matter the size.
The outside of the earcups is made from sparkly plastic coating while the insides have cushy padding, coated with thin layers of leather. These headphones are comfily designed so you can wear them over long periods of time.
These babies have really easy to use controls. On the left ear cup is the power button that also serves as the Bluetooth pairing button. Just hold it for a few seconds to initiate pairing. Right next to this button is the status LED which flashes in various frequencies and colors and right at the bottom is a micro USB charging port.
Around the front of this earcup is a rest button and finally a mic. If your phone supports NFC, simply tap it to this ear cup to connect.
On the right earcup you’ll find the volume button which is dotted with a protruding finger guide to help you adjust your volume seamlessly. Right next to it, you will find a multi-purpose button which allows you to play, pause and skip tracks as well as pick up calls.
The headband presses against the crown and the closed-back design on the earcups form a firm seal which isolates a lot of outside noise. These headphones produce a clear and well balanced sound for most music genres. While the lows, mids and highs are well represented, I did however notice that the bass isn’t as deep as I would have liked it. I also found the call quality over these headphones to be great.
The MDR-ZX770BTs have great battery life of between 17-20 hours. This is ultimately determined by how loud your volume is.
The Sony MDR-ZX770BT;
- have a premium build,
- have a comfy fit,
- have impressive battery life, and
- are fairly priced.
These wireless cans;
- are light on bass, and
- have poor stage presence.
While they may not be the most luxurious set of wireless headphones, the MDR-ZX770BT’s impressive battery life, premium design, superb comfort and affordability make them a great pick.
